Over at Poetic Asides (http://www.writersdigest.com/whats-new/2014-april-pad-challenge-day-16) the poetry prompt is to write an elegy.  An elegy  is defined as a “love poem for the dead”

you
a Mother's Day card.

phone number.
No
answering machine.

I 
have many
presents
for you
but 
I 
can only
leave them
on the ground.
